The BEST OF: Palestine readings on Tuesday night

THIS iS PART OF THE "NOT TOP 10"

UNKNOWN USER:

"What is your favorite part of the war?"

My favorite part of this war is the Mandate.

YOU NEED TO TELL ME WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TOP PLAYS:

NICOLE:

"Are the Arabs being punished for the actions of Nazi Germany?"

The Arabs are being punished for the actions of Nazi Germany because their homeland is being populated with more and more Jews. They didn't take any part in the Holocaust. Now everyone's saying that the Jews need their own homeland. It just so happens that the Jews want their land.

"What happened to Palestine?"

Most of what was Palestine has been taken by the Jews. The rest is either part of Jordan or part of Eqypt.

AUDREY:

How did the Law of Return Effect The Arab Pride?

the law of return effected the Arabs pride because now any jewish person from anywhere in the world could "return/come" to Israel and become a full citizen but Arabs could not return to the place where they were born.

ALEC:

"why doesnt germany give them some of there land because of what they put them through?"

this doesn't fully answer the question... but it kind of does... Germany didn't give land but they gave a lot of money... and neither the Arabs nor Jews would want to leave to gain land in Germany, because they want Jerusalem.

CHARLIE FOX (Answering his own question…)

"On a scale from 1 to 10 how angry do you think the Palestinians were and why"

execellent question Foxcr13!

i believe it was a 10 because they went from being a full country to slowly, but surely getting diminished until there was no Palestine

JULIA:

"Are the Arabs being punished for the actions of Nazi germany?"

The answer to this question is debatable, based on one's point of view, but it seems as though the Arabs suffered as a direct result of the actions of the Nazis, though they did nothing wrong.

SYDNEY:

"Why did Israel's GNP and GNP per capita suddenly rise rapidly?"

It rose because the German government gave $715 million and American Jews gave more than $500 million. Both of these donations were out of sympathy because they felt bad for Israel.

"Where did the Arab refugees go after they lost Palestine?"

The refugees first moved into the West Bank and Jordan, but when Jordan lost the West Bank to Israel, they had to move eastward into Jordan

PATRICK:

What are some reasons why it is easier, and more efficient for the English to "punish" Palestine by creating Israel in Palestine, instead of creating Israel in germany?

Events Menu for the DBQ

This is a list of POTENTIAL events for the DBQ. If you want to pick something that is not on this list, or something that is a combo of 2 or 3 - you are allowed to do that. Just check with me.

The 4 Wars Powerpoint

Pages 187-192 2x2

What are some of the "series of political crises" that shook Egypt after the War of 1948 and the Creation of Israel? (page 188)

Can you describe one aspect of Pan-Arabism?

Can you describe one aspect of the Suez War of 1956?

Can you describe one cause and one effect of the Six Day War?

NEW 2X2

You guys know the drill at this point.....

you have to ASK two Questions.....

AND

you have to ANSWER two Questions (or make 2 statements of fact).....

if you are answering a question, make sure you copy and paste it and put it in quotes....

Try to think of some broad questions and not just "yes" or "no" or one word questions....

HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS TO GET YOU STARTED:

How did the LAw of Return Effect The Arab Pride?

What happened to Palestine? Will it ever come back?

Are the Arabs being punished for the actions of Nazi Germany?

What is your favorite part of the War of 1948-49?

THE BEST OF: our first 2x2 on the Thrice Promised Land

BALFOUR DECLARATION
Luke Brooman said...
Did the Arabs still support the British even though they did not get all the land they asked for?

Clara Davis said...
"what were the terms of the agreement?"

--> it stated that no harm and prejudice would come to the civil and religious rights of non-jewish people in Palestine

Alvaro Chatin said...
What part of the Ottoman Empire did the French get? Was it faire or did the British take advantage of them too?

Chase Connors said:

we want the funk!

(This ring tone saved Chase from a write up bc it made Mr. Gibbs giggle - but don't push your luck!!!)

(no one better get any ideas from this....no more cell phones in class - and btw, who is calling your cell in the middle of the school day?)

Luke Brooman said...
Who benefited more for it?
---the Zionists benefited more from this because the British set them established Palastine for them when they did not have to give anything back to the British

HUSAYN-McMAHON LETTERS

Audrey Regillo said...
why was it "secret?
they didn't want other countries to know they had promised the land to the jewish people.

Gordon Clark said:
"why is it 'secret'"
it was secret because the british promised the land to two other people (French and Arabs) and if they found out then there would be trouble

Gordon Clark said:
What emoticon probably represents how the Jews felt after they were not given the land promised to them after WWI was over?
A. =)
B. =P
C. ^.^
D. >=(

Julia Fay said...
"What were the terms of the agreement?"
The Jews would finally have a national homeland, and the British would gain support. This act would gain them support because of the worldwide sympathy for Jews due to their repeated persecuton.

SYKES-PICOT AGREEMENT

Margeaux Losty said...
"who was this agreement between?"
It was between British and French. The terms of the agreement was newly formed League of Nations divided the region into political units called MaNdAtEs

Julia Fay said...
Who did the British end up giving the land to when they could no longer handle the pressure from the three groups claiming it?

Nicole Carolin said...
The land went to the United Nations because the British couldn't handle it.
